Alright, It has been eight months and I still haven't updated my Nuzlocke run of FireRed like I promised that I would. What's even more depressing is that, despite that time span, the comic still takes up the majority of the second page of my gallery.

Anyways, I did promise to continue it and I like to keep my promises, however it appears that I'm going to have to make a slight change to that promise to make it work. See, the reason why I stopped making the comic, and why I still haven't updated it, isn't due to a lack of interest in Pokemon. No, it is because of a combination of apathy towards drawing for awhile and my inability to locate my FireRed cartridge.

Because of this, and said promise, I will be continuing the Nuzlocke, but as a reboot either with a ROM of FireRed or with my Emerald copy of the game. I apologize for the time it took for this to occur.

Yes, this means you should expect a Nuzlocke Comic to start up fairly soon. I hope that my improved art skills and actual planing may improve the quality of the comic. However, as I tend to draw it in a pseudo-Pokemon style rather than my own style, it will take some experimentation to see if I can get the art to work out right.

Awhile back, while reading a tutorial on how to draw, I came across a piece of advice that I glossed over. The artist had written, next to a few sketches of a figure, "You can memorize a line, but then you just know the line. You need to know why it is there in order to be able to draw the figure correctly."
I took his advice and did some research on human anatomy, and it did indeed improve my abilities (although I still have quite a ways to go). However, what I did not quite understand was the true wisdom behind his words. "You can memorize a line, but then you just know the line."

Here I sit, months later, just after midnight typing out this journal to share a revelation that I had regarding his advice. It can be applied, I believe, to all parts of life and, in my case, to learning.

"You can memorize a line, but then you just know the line."

You can indeed memorize a line and, in doing so, know the line. However, you will not understand why it is there and thus have gained nothing except the ability to copy a line. The same goes for  any other form of memorization.

You can memorize a shape. You can memorize an equation. You can memorize a definition, a belief, or words of wisdom. However, none of it matters unless you understand. Just as you must understand why the line is there, you must also understand the rest in order to benefit from knowing them.
You must understand the shape, and why it is what it is. You must understand why an equation works, and how it can be used. You must understand a definition, not just know the words that make it up. You must understand a belief, and, as I have recently discovered, you must understand the words a wise tutor provides you.

I have lived my life, for the most part, in a desperate pursuit of knowledge. It has gained me quite a bit for the short time I've been on this earth, but it has always left me empty and foolish.

In truth, knowledge is nothing without the wisdom to understand.

Alright, I'll bend to the will of :iconsms00: and update my journal, even if it is a Journal for journal-ing's sake

....

Hello to all my new, and old, watchers who have either joined me for the pony comics or persevered through my years here at DA. I want you to know that I value all of you and am both flattered and amazed that you'd be willing to subscribe to my account and are interested in my art; in short: Thank you.

I'm sorry that I don't update often. It's not like I don't draw much, I simply don't update everything that I draw because allot of it is small, pointless and/or sloppy (not that I don't update sometimes with small, pointless and sloppy things, which I also apologize for). However, I am sitting on a pile of comics that i have done with the help of :iconsms00: and want to know whether I should upload them.

Some of these involve ponies, many do not. All of them, however, contain my characters from 'AC' and SMS00's characters from 'SKC'.

The first stack of comics we have is the 'AC-SKC conundrum' of which we uploaded pages 15, 19 and 20. These comics do contain ponies but, as we didn't plan them out much, are a bit random and disoriented.

The second stack would be the AC-SKC tournament of which no comics have been uploaded. I think that both of us take pride in this story arc and have used it to develop our characters more. However, we have neglected to upload them due to the work that would be necessary to make them eye catching enough to attract readers.

I am only mentioning these because I would like to know what any of you think, if you have an opinion at all, whether or not we should upload these for your viewing.

[Note: While I would like to do more Pony comics because they are fun, it is difficult for me to do so within the realm of "Anderson Comics." This is because AC has always had a theme of violence and introducing ponies into it is difficult to do without messing with their personalities or characterization. I will, however, do more of these comics as ideas come to me and as the show inspires me, so do not worry.]

A breakthrough?

2 min read
A friend of mine once told me that the only problem he had with my artwork was that I drew the human body as it it were one object. Instead, he suggested, it was a set of many objects that all connected to form a person. I think I finally figured out what he means...

Instead of my futile practicing of drawing my characters repeatedly to try to gain consistency and skill, I will break the task down into smaller parts. I will practice drawing arms and elbows until I get it right. I will practice drawing torsos until they look decent in my eyes. I will practice drawing knees, fingers, noses, necks, wrists, feet, and heads each one by one. When I begin practicing one object, I will continue on that sole object until I have it right, then when I think I have them all correct, I'll practice putting them together. Finally, when I can finally draw the human body, I will work on unique faces to represent my characters. Followed by slight alterations to body structure and posture.

Assuming I could practice all these things by attempting them all at once repeatedly was foolish. Lets see if I can make any head way attempting this method.

Yeah, I have decided to play Pokemon Pearl again.
Why? I have a desire to replay the Pokemon series, but sold my Blue, Yellow, Silver, and Ruby versions.

Honestly i can't stand most (if not all) of the Pokemon created after 3rd Generation, but i'll give the game itself a chance.

Here is my Opinion on the generations though:

Generation 1: They all seem like they could have been created through actual natural evolution and look like animals. (except a few that could have been genetic modification and mutation from pollution... but... anyways)[My fav generation]

Generation 2: Still fairly good in terms of realism of animal development... but slipping [I like most of the pokemon in this generation]

Generation 3: Gah... slippery slope my friends... slippery slope... [some pokemon are good... most bad.]

Generation 4: Stuffed animals and robots!! Gah!!! What happened?! [why? Why? WHY?!]

Generation 5: I don't know and i don't want to...

My plan for actually having fun with this game? Well, play until i catch a gen 1, 2 or 3 pokemon and then release my gen 4 pokemon and train my gen 1/2/3 pokemon.

On another note!
Blizzard here in my region, we're snowed in and that is probably a cause for my wanting to play Pokemon.

--Edit--
Well, my plan was to play until I got to route 203, then try until I caught an Abra and then train the Abra to be the same level as my starter at all times. Then when I got an offensive TM for Abra, then ditch my starter and play using Abra as my starter.

However, my DS ran out of power, I can't find the charger and so... that isn't going to happen soon.

Luckily, I found Pokemon Yellow (turns out I didn't sell it after all) and my gameboy. So, Double A batteries and good times :D
